The Heidelberg School included Tom Roberts 1856-1931, Fredric Mc CUBBIN 1855-1917 Arthur STREETON 1867-1943 and Charles CONDER  1868-1909.

Australian Impressionist Painters from 1885 onwards included Hans HEYSEN 1877-1968, Eliot Grunder 1883-1939. Other important painters connected with Australian Landscape painting included Harold Herbert, Septimus Power, Will Ashton, William Rowell, John Rowell, Sidney LONG and Daryl Lindsay.

From early 1900 portrait painting became popular - notable artists being Rupert Bunny, E.PHILLIPS FOX , Hugh Ramsay, George Lambert, William McInnes, John Longstaff, Charles Wheeler and William Dargie. Hans HEYSEN
