Born in Port Adelaide South Australia Margaret Preston studied in Sydney and Melbourne and at the Government Art School in Munich.
 She travelled widely in Europe, Asia, Africa and India and was an active champion of Aboriginal painting.

Margaret Preston Modernist Decorative Art

Margaret Preston (1875 -- 1963) was a well-known Australian artist. She was very influential during the 1920s to 1940s for her modernist works as a painter and printmaker and for introducing Aboriginal motifs into contemporary art.
