Born
in London Turner studied with the watercolorist Thomas Malton
at the Royal Academy, his first painting being exhibited at the
Royal Academy in 1796.
He became famous for his landscapes in
oils and watercolor, his favourite subjects being the sea, storms, sunrise and
sunset

The Dallas
Museum of Art in Texas had a
retrospective of the career of J. M.
W. Turner, considered by many one of
the greatest landscape painters in
the history of art. The exhibit will
travel to the Metropolitan Museum of
