A world of luxury and decadence, the 1920's and 1930's
Art Deco artists include: Tamara de Lempicka 1898-1980, Georgia O'Keefe 1887-1986, , the fashion designs of Coco Chanel 1883-1986, and Paul Poiret 1879-1944, jewelry of Louis Cartier 1819-1904, Posters of Cassandre 1901-1968.
The major precursor to the shift from Art Nouveau towards this new modern style was the Scottish architect and designer
Charles Rennie Mackintosh 1868-1928 whose first works had elements of Art Nouveau but he then began to favor a more stark elegant and geometrically inspired style.
