ARTS AND CRAFTS MOVEMENT
In England the Arts and Crafts movement
was pioneered by William Morris and Jon Ruskin and played a role in the return
of well designed, functional furniture and objects made from humble indigenous
materials. A group of craftsmen - the Cotswold School - based in central england
created handcrafted furniture which explored the grain of local woods.
Furniture of Gustav Stickley, Frank Lloyd Wright and the Roycrofters in US show
