Brought up in a strict Calvinist Dutch family Mondrian's art reflects a sense of order. He studied at the
Amsterdam Academy then moved to Paris in 1909 where he was introduced to cubism. Mondrian
formulated
the
De Stijl movement which influenced Bauhaus. When war broke out he joined Gabo in London and
 then
moved to New York in 1940.
