Born on 8 december 1939 in Belfast Northern Ireland, Galway progressed from mouth-organ and penny whistle to the first flute chair in the Berlin Philharmonic in 1969, Six years later he went solo, averaging 120 concerts a year and an endless stream of recordings which included 3 hit albums.
In 1997 Galway became conductor of the London Mozart Players in addition to his flute concerts.
