Polish film-maker Roman Polansky was born in Paris - he studied at the State Film School in Lodz from 1954-1959 and made a number of short films.
His film - Noz w Wodzie - Knife in the Water (1962) bought him international recognition. Later working in London, Paris and Los Angeles:
films including: Repulsion (1965), Rosemary's Baby (1968), Tess (1979), Frantic (1988), Bitter Moon (1992) and the Pianist .

Stage direction included Lulu (1974), Rigoletto (1976), and acting in Amadeus (1981) and Metamorphosis (1988).
His traumatic life includes internment in a German concentration camp where his mother died, and the murder of his second wife actress Sharon Tate.
 
The Soundtrack took top honors at the Cannes Film Festival 2002 and contains the following:

Chinatown - set in Los Angeles in 1937 is a film of crime and corruption and starred Jack Nicolson and Faye Dunaway
