Buckingham Palace is both the home of the Queen, and the office headquarters of the British Monarchy with

about 300 people working there. There are about 50 domestic staff living at the palace and there are more staff
homes situated in the Royal Mews.
John Nash converted the original Buckingham House into a palace for George 1V, Queen Victoria being the first monarch to live at the palace..
