Abilgard was a Danish painter who studied in Italy. His style was classical and he favoured heroic subjects. 4 allegorical frescoes by him in the Royal Palace Copenhagen were burnt in 1791, however sketches of these with many more of his works are preserved in the Royal Gallery, Copenhagen.
